Duties

The Council of Nurses is responsible for making recommendations to the Board of Directors in three areas directly related to nursing practice:

  • General assessment of the quality of nursing acts performed at the Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Gatineau (CSSS de Gatineau);
  • Rules of nursing care applicable to nurses;
  • Proper distribution of care provided by nurses.

Also, the Council of Nurses advises the Director General on:

  • Scientific and technical organization of the CSSS de Gatineau;
  • Assessment and maintenance of the professional standards of nurses.

The duties of the Council of Nurses are carried out by an Executive Committee made up of:

  • Five nurses, elected by all the nurses who are members of the Council, to represent the major clinical directorates;
  • Three co-opted nurses, so as to ensure representation of all clinical departments;
  • Two nursing assistants representing the Nursing Assistants Committee;
  • Director, Nursing and Professional Practice;
  • Director General.
