Mission
Within its local mandate, the Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Gatineau (CSSS de Gatineau) provides services to the population of Gatineau, Hull and Aylmer areas of the City of Gatineau.
The CSSS de Gatineau has for mission:
- to give access to a range of general, specialized and extraspecialized health services, social services and community development activities;
- to contibute to other CSSS services proposals, through its own regional and supraregional mandates.
These integrated and secure services, respecful of individual and collective rights and of the needs of people, aim at promoting, maintaining, improving and restoring the health and well-being of the population as well as providing end of life support.
To achieve its mission, the CSSS de Gatineau:
- works in a interdisciplinary fashion and coordinates, with its partners, to ensure continuity of services by associating with its users and the population;
- supports the development of the life environment and ensures services proximity;
- supports teaching and research activities, notably through universities affiliations.
Vision
Keeping in mind the needs, the organizational and financial limits of the population, the CSSS de Gatineau aims at being a dynamic institution that contributes, alongside its partners, in offering community actions, health and social quality services that are pertinent, accessible and continuous.
The CSSS de Gatineau relies on its personnel, physicians and volunteers' commitment, creativity and cooperation, and on the population, the users and the next-of-kin's abilities, to attain better health and greater well-being for the community.
Values
The CSSS de Gatineau holds uppermost five principal values that it applies in its interaction with the population, the users, the partners as well as within the organization.
Respect
Respect is demonstrated through attitudes, behaviour and various approaches such as openmindedness, lending a sympathetic ear, empathy and one's availability to others. Whether it be towards people or communities, respect favors personal knowhow and the human character of interaction, dignity towards each other in everyone's personal, socioeconomic and cultural global nature.
This is exemplified daily in:
- listening, having professional discretion and being on time;
- ensuring information confidentiality in one's performance of duties;
- being precise and respectful of one's commitments (Return calls, appointments, expectation, etc.);
- preserving at all times, the others intimacy and dignity;
- recognizing individual and community rights along with their contribution;
- being a professional always, particularly through an acceptable dress code;
- keeping human and egalitarian relations;
- being polite and generally, when speaking French to a user, saying "vous" instead of "tu". Appropriate language must also be free of hurtful, threatening or uncalled for remarks, of harassment and blackmail including in one's private life;
- saying the right thing to the right person, the right way, at the right time, without passing judgment;
- recognizing our partners' contribution, experience and expertise, in our quest to improve the various fields of individual and collective health and greater well-being.
Collaboration
Collaboration is built upon trust where one and other's commitments and contributions are aimed at reaching a common goal. Essential in team work, collaboration implies developing a common vision and sharing information, knowledge, experiences and mutual support.
This is demonstrated daily in:
- bringing together individual and community experiences, knowhow and expertises;
- getting individuals and the community involved in decision-making and in objective formulation and achievement;
- ensuring that passed-on information is understood;
- fostering environmental development where trust, support, mutual aid and team work prevail;
- favoring decision-making consensus and standing by the ensuing decisions.
Transparency
Transparency is the quality of what can be seen and known by all. It implies continuous communication, information exchange tuned to the individual needs including the means to ensure understanding and feedback.
This is demonstrated daily in:
- saying what we do and doing what we say;
- giving relevant information, making sure it is understood and agreeing on feedback process;
- explaining possibilities and constraints to both personnel and organization;
- showing where errors lie as well as mesures put in place, to correct them and prevent recurrence.
Competence
Competence emphasizes mastery of skills (knowhow, competencies, attitudes), turning to proven data and practices, creativity. It's an incentive for individuals and teams to question themselves about quality, excellence of cares and satisfaction in regards to the population's needs.
This is demonstrated daily in:
- recognizing and valorizing individuals in their capacities, their abilities, their experiences, their knowledge and their expertise;
- promoting and sharing innovative ideas;
- offering pertinent and safe community quality actions and services;
- contributing to reinforcement of individual and collective ability for action;
- identifying our own limitations submiting and taking action to bring one's competence up to date to avoid accidents;
- encouraging skills development for training, thoughts and knowledge sharing;
- recognizing and valorizing individual's contribution in achieving quality and productivity objectives;
- encouraging development of mutual competencies between partners.
Accountability
Acountability implies that each person becomes conscious of one's role and responsibilities and is committed to their realization. This value includes individual and community development and support, in everyone's capacity for taking action and in achieving their autonomy.
This is demonstrated daily in:
- passing on the necessary information for freely made choices, knowledgeable decision-making and judicious use of resources;
- supporting individuals and community so that they themselves can find solutions while acting in solidarity with vulnerable clientèles;
- communicating and understanding expectations, giving necessary means and leeway for their execution while being responsible for the work to be done;
- contributing to a healhy work climate;
- using institution resources adequately;
- developing an open partnership, in respect of our partners' missions and collaboration expectations.
