Accreditation: The Leader in Quality Health Care and Services

In order to ensure safe delivery of health services and social services, the National Assembly stipulated in Bill 113 that, within three years following 19 December 2002, every institution must request the initial accreditation of the health services and social services it provides pursuant to Section 107.1 of the Health and Social Services Act. In December 2005, the members of the Board of Directors asked the management of the Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Gatineau (CSSS de Gatineau) to undertake an accreditation process with Accreditation Canada.

As set out in the MSSS document entitled "Lignes directrices sur l'agrément des services offerts par les établissements de santé et de services sociaux" accreditation is the recognition by a competent external authority that an institution is engaged in a continuous process aiming to improve the quality of its services. This third-party recognition provides the accredited institution with the value and notoriety required to acquire and maintain trust on the part of the population, the users and government authorities. Accreditation evidences the accountability of the institution with regards to the importance of continuously improving the quality and safe delivery of services.

The CSSS de Gatineau is an accredited establishment pursuing a mission of excellence. The last visit from Accreditation Canada took place in February 2011, and the CSSS de Gatineau obtained its statute as an accredited organization. Various clinical and administrative teams are carrying out the process undertaken to ensure ongoing quality improvement, the primary concern of which are the needs of the population.

The CSSS de Gatineau accreditation process is under the responsibility of the Quality Assurance and Risk Management Directorate.

Client Satisfaction Evaluation

As part of the services accreditation process, the CSSS de Gatineau administers satisfaction questionnaires to the users of its services.

The results of these surveys enable the institution to improve the quality of its services.
