Risk Management
Integrated Risk Management Program
The Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Gatineau (CSSS de Gatineau) has established an Integrated Risk Management Program enabling administrators and directors to have an overall vision of risks, so that they can make the right decisions and, therefore, allow the establishment to fully achieve its mission. This program, a component of the "Integrated Quality Management Framework" of the CSSS de Gatineau, has five specific objectives:
- Managing organizational risks;
- Monitoring emergent risk situations;
- Evaluating high-risk clinical activities;
- Managing user-related incidents and accidents;
- Managing notices, alerts, and material, product or equipment recalls.
Risk Management Committee
A Risk Management Committee has been established through the adoption of a by-law by the Board of Directors, as prescribed by law. Its mandate consists in finding, developing and promoting ways to:
- Identify and analyze the risks of incidents or accidents in order to ensure the safety of users, and more specifically in the case of nosocomial infections, prevent their occurrence and control their recurrence;
- Ensure that support is provided to victims and to their relatives;
- Ensure the implementation of a monitoring system, including the establishment of a local incidents/accident log for the purpose of analyzing the causes of incidents and accidents;
- Recommend to the board of directors of the institution measures to be taken in order to prevent the recurrence of such accidents, as well as control measures, if necessary;
- Ensure that proper information and training are disseminated throughout the institution.
