Our Residential and Long-Term Care Centres (CHSLDs)
The Nursing Home: When Home Support Is No Longer Possible...
Residential care resources are available to individuals who can no longer remain in their natural living environment, despite the support of those around them and the services provided at home. For the most part, these persons experience a loss of functional autonomy, with chronic diseases, cognitive impairments or specific health problems (e.g. Alzheimer, mental health or other). Within the territory of the Centre de santé et de services sociaux de Gatineau (CSSS de Gatineau), individuals in need of placement can be directed toward three types of lodging resources, depending on their level of autonomy and their personal needs:
- A family-type resource (FTR);
- A intermediary resource (IR);
- A residential and long-term care centre (CHSLD).
Residential and Long-Term Care Centres (CHSLDs)
Within the CSSS de Gatineau, there are four home care centres located in the Hull, Aylmer and Gatineau sectors. All our centres advocate an "alternative environment" approach. The services provided are adapted to the needs of the residents and favour their fulfilment.
CHSLDs offer a wide range of services, such as: room and board, nursing and assistance for activities of daily living, medical and pharmaceutical services, nutrition, rehabilitation (occupational therapy, physiotherapy), social intervention, recreation and pastoral animation services.
