Constituents

The make-up of the Users Committee was set by the Centre de santé et de services sociaux (CSSS de Gatineau) Board of Directors.

The Users Committee is made up of 15 members composed as follows:

  • nine (9) members elected by all users of the institution;
  • four (4) members from Residents Users Committees: one representative from each of the Residents Committees;
  • two (2) members from hôpital Pierre-Janet.

The Users Committee members' term of office cannot exceed three years. The term can be renewed for the same period of time. However, a member will not be able to cumulate more than two complete consecutive terms without taking a minimum one-year leave of absence.

Individuals can be members of the Users' Committee if:

  • they reside in the Outaouais region;
  • they are major;
  • they do not work or exercise one's profession in the establishment;
  • they are not under curatorship;
  • they have not been dismissed from their duties as a member of a users' committee or residents' committee of an institution covered in the ARHSSS

The Users Committee members must possess the following characteristics:

  • Users interests must be of a great importance for them, as should be the respect of their rights, quality of services and client satisfaction;
  • They represent all of the establishment's various clientèles, without any discrimination and with no consideration to services received; they shall not use the committee's resources for personal purposes;
  • They work in a spirit of respect and collaboration based on trust, with the other Users Committee members, with the Residents Committees members, with the establishment's management and with any other stakeholder;
  • They work in partnership with the establishment's various directorates, in order to develop a real synergy for the respect of users rights and to improve the quality of services in the establishment;
  • They have the availability to meet the requirements for the committee's term of office (about 9 meetings per year and some committees participation).
